Overview
In the beating heart of the Riviera Maya, a secret haven awaits. Maroma, a Belmond Hotel, blends Mayan mystique with refined vitality. Here is where the true spirit of the Riviera Maya was born, between the labyrinthine jungle and the wide-open Caribbean Sea.
The recently transformed hideaway boasts light, airy, art-filled rooms created by acclaimed designer Tara Bernerd. The majority of accommodation offers sea views and refined interiors rich in natural, local materials. Originally built by believers in Sacred Geometry, the architecture and artisanal features blend with the energy of the surrounding nature. Here, mind, senses and soul are in harmony. Days can be as relaxing or action-packed as wished, from lounging on the beach or pedaling off on a bike ride to parasailing, horse riding and diving over the magnificent reef. Tailor-made activities to explore the Yucatan Peninsula range from snorkeling in long-worshipped cenotes to exploring Mayan pyramids.
Beachfront restaurants offer zingingly fresh, mouthwatering cuisine focusing on local ingredients such as shellfish and succulent fruits. The exciting bars serve up artisanal mezcals, rare Mexican wines and a convivial, sociable atmosphere. Children are welcomed with family-friendly accommodation and a host of organized activities. This is a place to feel more alive than anywhere else.
Though concealed and enveloped in nature, Maroma is easily accessed from Cancun Airport, gateway to Mexico. It is close to prominent archaeological ruins such as Chichen Itza, Coba and Tulum, as well as one of the world's best dive sites, Cozumel.
