Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and Fairgrounds
Del Mar is nationally known for its racetrack, "Where The Turf Meets The Surf," and ever-popular thoroughbred-racing season from mid-July through early September plus the new fall season in November. In June, the Fairgrounds become home to the San Diego County Fair where visitors can enjoy live music, carnival rides, and all of the sights and sounds of a regional fair.
San Diego Polo Fields
Founded in 1986, The San Diego Polo Club is an established institution recognized for excellence in the sport of polo. The club is beautifully situated on 60 acres of land in neighboring Rancho Santa Fe, offering five world-class class polo fields. The San Diego Polo Club has one of the longest playing seasons in the country running from May through October. Sunday Polo matches are presented to the public every Sunday, beginning at 1:00 pm.
San Diego Zoo
One of the area's most popular attractions, the 100-acre the San Diego Zoo is home to over 3,700 rare and endangered animals representing more than 650 species and subspecies, and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants.
San Diego Safari Park
Go on an African Safari just 30 minutes from L'Auberge Del Mar! The Safari Park is an expansive wildlife sanctuary that is home to more than 2,600 animals representing more than 300 species. Its renowned botanical collection represents 3,500 species and 1.5 million specimens. Over half of the Park's 1,800 acres have been set aside as protected native species habitat. It is located 30 miles north of downtown San Diego in the San Pasqual Valley near Escondido, California.
